We have this small rocky field with the River Humber in sight there is nothing for miles other than the road running nearby, but I have had loads of interesting finds from it, I always feel confident on this field, and the couple of times I have taken my wife with me she also has made some nice finds including Roman and a nice silver hammered coin. But my detecting buddy does not like it, and this particular day a Sunday in September I had a hard job convincing my detecting buddy to give it another go, " I think I will try the field over the road" he grumbled, anyway he followed me onto the field and spent ages setting up his new toy, only the second outing with his XP Deus. I quickly set up my T2 with zero discrimination and 1 tone relying on he screen to tell me if I was finding a positive signal. I headed for the copse at the far side at the bottom of the hill, and was thinking Dazz is right this field really is quiet of signals now, when I got a beep in my headphones, my very first signal of the day, I saw it in the first spadeful and thought it was a gold plated uniform button, but as I picked it up I knew what it was with the weight? my very first Gold stater a Domino type of the Corieltauvi tribe, I went straight over to show Dazz, I usually wait to the end of a session to show him my finds but this was just too nice.

New field tomorrow.

We have not managed to get out much in 2012 so far,but weather permitting we are hoping to acquire a new field, it is not very big but is in the middle of an old village. I have found five hammered coins so far this year and my detecting buddy as found about the same, but he has the added advantage of owning a new XP Deus.
